What does a LARC membership provide?

LARC is a nonprofit community rowing organization dedicated to providing a quality rowing experience for Masters rowers at a very reasonable cost. A membership is valuable for both competitive and recreational rowers, sweep rowers and scullers alike.
Membership includes use of equipment, launches for coaching, and the opportunity to either join an existing crew or form your own crew based on boat availability. Our fleet includes 8+ and 4+ sweep boats, and single and double sculls. Sculling members will need to pass a standard flip and skills test. In addition, off the water, we schedule semi-regular social events to build camaraderie and friendships around a mutual interest in rowing.
Membership is open to experienced rowers over the age of 18.

How to join LARC?
New applicants must first join USRowing to be covered by insurance.
Experienced rowers (18 and older) can Join LARC at any time.  If you are interested in exploring the club, we offer a free one-month trial period.
If you are new to the sport of rowing, please visit our Learn to Row page.

How much does LARC cost?
All current LARC members are required to pay dues, as well as donate one volunteer hour per quarter.  Coxswains automatically become members with no dues obligations.  Visiting rowers who will not be joining the club can row for $40 per month (first-time visitors are welcome to try two rows with LARC before the monthly fee applies).
Membership dues can be paid on an annual, half year, or quarterly basis:
  • One Year: $420.00
  • Half Year: $225.00
  • Quarterly: $120.00
Rowers who wish to race in USRA sanctioned events will need to join United States Rowing Association (USRA) for a fee of $65/year (27 and older), $45/year (26 and under).  USRA members also receive a subscription to American Rowing magazine and certain insurance benefits.

When can I row?
Our practices generally take place on weekdays from 5:00AM to 7:00AM and weekends from 6:00AM to 10:30AM.  Sunset rows can also be scheduled in the summer months.  Most crews row between two and four times per week, although rowers are welcome to row as often as they choose.  Thanks to beautiful Southern California weather, LARC provides year-round rowing.
